Things To Do In BADLAPUR
Badlapur is a city in Thane District of Maharashtra state. It is approx. 65 km
from the Mumbai main city. Badlapur is known to Mumbaikars as a week-end picnic spot. You
can easily reach here by taking a local train or via road. The city has so much
offer, especially during the monsoon. Here’s a list of places that you should
consider visiting when you’re in or around Badlapur.
Kondeshwar Temple and
Waterfall.
One of the best place to
experience the monsoon. Very scenic place which is situated near a village. One
of the most popular tourist attraction during monsoon. There a Lord shiv temple
at the lap of mother nature. To reach here you can take a auto rickshaw from
badlapur station. I would prefer bringing your personal vehicles with you as it
will give to more freedom to explore the place at your pace. Roads are quite
uneasy but the view is totally mesmerizing. Worth a visit.
Barvi Dam.
The best time to visit
here is monsoon, to get the best experience. You will definitely love the
scenic ride through the jungle road. A heavenly experience. Long road
surrounded by big green trees. Sounds interesting enough? There are small
dhabas nearby to take care of your hunger. So don’t think much, and visit here
this monsoon with your friends and family.
Khandoba Temple, Mulgaon.
Best place to get peace
of mind. It would be a good workout for you all as you have to climb the stairs
to reach the temple. There are approx. 500 to 600 steps and it will take around
30 to 60 mins to reach the temple depending upon your pace. After reaching the
temple, you can rest there and enjoy the scenic look from the top. Don’t forget
to carry a water bottle with you.
If you’re not travelling by your personal vehicle, then to reach here you can take an auto or taxi from the station. If any doubts you can ask the local villages, they would be very happy to help you.
Mulgaon Vada-Pav.
While you’re visiting
Barvi Dam and Khandoba Temple, don’t forget to try the Mulgaon’s Vadapav. They
are specially known for their spicy Theccha Vada-Pav. Along with the Vada-Pav
they also serve Misal Pav, Usal Pav, Chicken Thali, Mutton Thali and many more.
All at a very affordable rates.
Chikloli Dam.
Chikloli dam is nearby to
both Ambernath and Badlapur station. You can easily reach here by taking an
auto from the station. Visit here during monsoon to have the best experience.
The road may not be very comfy but its worth the journey. Along with the dam
you will also get a view of the beautiful mountains in the background and a mini
waterfall where you can take bath and enjoy with your friends and family.
During monsoon, local street vendors will be there to take care of your hungry
tummy. Also, apart from having fun don’t forget safety is the first priority.
Because at times, the place could be very slippery.
Barrage River Point.
You can call it mother
nature’s waterpark or swimming pool. For the best experience visit during
monsoon and at the start of winter i.e. between July to December. This could be
a great picnic spot for your friends and family. I would recommend to carry your
own lunch and snacks with you. To reach here I would prefer to travel by two
wheeler because the road is quite narrow and muddy.
Bhagirath Waterfall,
Vangani.
A very very beautiful
place to get drenched. One of the most beautiful falls I have seen. You can
reach here by your private vehicle or you can get an auto rickshaw from Vangani
station. The auto will drop you to the base village, from there you have to
walk 3-4kms to reach the waterfall. The route to the waterfall is filled with
lush green paddy fields. Such a heavenly view. Carry food and water with you as
you will not find much shops nearby. Too many places to trail in this region.
Care and safety to be exercised.
Gorakhgad Fort.
It is located 25kms from
Murbad, Thane district. About 30 minutes ride from Murbad through the roads
surrounded by green lush trees to reach here. The fort entrance is easy to
notice from the road. If having any doubts you can ask the locals villagers.
The route of the trek is from inside of the temple. The temple itself is great
with its symmetry and architecture. The trek would usually take around 2 to 4
hour depending upon your pace. Good hiking shoes are recommended because the
place gets a little slippery during monsoon. The last part is a bit difficult
but the view from top is worth the hike. Carry water bottle and snacks with
you. Happy trails!!
Waterpark- Rainy Resort,
Shanti Sagar Resort and Anand Sagar Resort.
Tickets staring from 250.
They don’t have much huge rides but still are offerings a lot of enjoyable
rides. They have 5 to 8 slides, rain-dance and pools. They also serve free gola
and popcorn. What else do you need? Definitely a go-to place especially during
the summer with your friends and family.
