6 Common Myths and Misconceptions Foreigners Have About INDIA
This one is the most common misconception that foreigners have about India. India has a variety of
food. The taste varies from east to west and north to south. If you say that
all Indian food is spicy then you haven’t tried all of it. Next time you visit
India, try south Indian dishes like dosa, idli, vada, etc.

Actually, India has six
ecological seasons. Spring season, Summer season, Monsoon/Rainy season, Early
Autumn, Winter season and late autumn. India is not only diverse in religion
and culture, but also in seasons. Next time you visit India, pack your bags and
head off to Manali, Shimla and Kashmir.
3. Indians are poor.
The foreign media, most
of the time, portray India as a poor or undeveloped country. Even in most of
the English movies we see that all they glorify is the poverty of India.
But my
friend the real India is far different than that. People are mostly unaware of
the tremendous economical growth that India has made in the recent years. They
still have some colonial images of India in their minds where people ride on
elephants and naked children play on the streets.

estimate is around 10 to 15 % of India’s population which is more than 125
million people can speak fluent English. Doctors and engineers are two of the
most popular professions and a great many people have MBA or PhD
qualifications. India's literacy rate is at 74.04%. Kerala has achieved a
literacy rate of 93.91%.
The first which comes
into mind after hearing India is Secular. India is a culturally rich country
where everyone lives with full respect and love for each other. We have Jains,
Sikhs, Christians, and Muslims and much more other religions. Each religion has
something beautiful to offer and foreigners should definitely witness the rich
cultures of India.
India as a country is
diverse and multilingual. There are so many languages in India but none of them
is called Indian. India speaks hundreds of languages and dialects. Some are
extinct, while some are still in use with considerable speakers. As you travel
from one state to another the language as well as the culture will vary. India
has 22 official languages. According to Census of India, the total number of
mother tongues spoken in India is 1652. And English is one of them.
